My Background
My name is Roosevelt Groves, and I am the founder & CEO of WAYS2 Inc (NFP) based out of Schaumburg Illinois (Northwest Suburbs of Chicago). Our organization, WAYS2 (We Are Your Sons Too), is a personal appeal for equity in treatment, born out of the tragic headlines we have witnessed over many decades of Black and Brown youth’s negative and sometimes fatal interactions with law enforcement.
I am a graduate of Northwestern University, obtaining both my undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in Nuclear Engineering (BSNE, 83) and Kellogg Master of Management (MBA International Business and Finance, 90) respectively. I also have a Master of Project Management Degree from Keller Graduate School of Management.
A recent retiree of the nation’s largest nuclear operator (number one nuclear operator in the U.S.), I stepped away from corporate America after working 40 years for a single company to start focusing my energy upon the need to be an agent of change in strengthening relations between our youth and our community leadership (especially law enforcement). My goal is to prevent future headlines highlighting a tragic engagement or death of a minority youth involving law enforcement.
I have a strong passion and commitment to ensuring all our youths, especially those of color, are afforded opportunities to fulfill their value and achieve their full potential. Over the years I have volunteered my time to mentor, teach, and recently used my position as Head Commissioner of our community Youth Football league to help shape lives and instill a sense of worth and accomplishment in our kids.
I am a family man (wife and three sons) and understand the concerns of both parents and law-enforcement when it comes to the expectation of serving and being served in the community.
